Festival Lumen is an open-air festival of gospel music which takes place at the beginning of June in Trnava. During its 19-year long existence it has become the biggest gospel music festival in Central Europe.
Around 12,000 people come to Trinity square in Trnava that during one weekend becomes a part of the Trnava city that becomes their temporary home. As the festival is free for everybody, it offers a musical experience not only to the festival visitors but also to the passers-by.
Besides the „audio“ experience given by the concerts of high-class Slovak and foreign bands, using the professional sound and lighting equipment, the festival also offers enough space for meeting with friends that gives the festival family atmosphere and uniqueness.
A notable part of the festival is also the set of workshops and lectures dedicated to actual themes also suggested by the visitors on the festival webpage. The workshops and lectures inspired by the actual festival’s motto give opportunity to learn new information, but not in special way by interactive approach or personal involvement of the participants as well as lecturers.
The festival is organized for the young by young volunteers. Besides the core team that works on festival preparation within whole year, there is a “family” of 250 volunteers securing the running of the whole festival.
